Frequently asked questions about importing customers from CSV / XML file to the online store panel.

Is it possible to import customer data when the import file contains different column/node names than the required file structure?

Yes. This is made possible by a special data mapping function that allows you to assign a given field from the imported file to a field located on the customer's card.

Can the import file contain fewer fields than the required file structure?

Yes. Please note that each imported customer must have at least the required fields such as login, first name, last name, address, zip code, city.

Is it possible to import a customer database when the import file contains more fields than the required structure?

Can you import customer passwords?


Yes. When you place customer passwords in plain text in an XML or CSV file, they will be encrypted and then imported into the store.

Are customers automatically notified when a new IdoSell store account is created for them?


No. You have to perform the operation yourself on the list of imported customers.

Do you have to inform clients about setting up a new account for them in the store?

If the store domain has not changed and we have in CSV or XML file the logins and passwords of our clients, there is no such need. However, it may be an ideal moment to remind customers about your store and its current promotions.

Is there a limited import file size?


At the moment, the maximum size of the import file cannot exceed 2 GB. However, this is enough to import many millions of customers.

Is it possible to edit the customer data before importing it into the store database?


Yes. Just before importing customers into the store's database you can modify customer data in the window reproducing the customer edit tab.

If an import error occurs, can you correct the incorrect data and repeat the import?

Yes. When the import of a customer has failed, we can re-import him by correcting the data based on the error information.

Do I get import error information if the import fails?


Yes. In the list of unimported customers, there is a column at the end of the table with information about import errors. The most common errors include: incorrect login, missing first name, missing last name, missing city, incorrect zip code format.

Will customers receive an email/SMS about signing up for the Newsletter when the E-mail Newsletter or SMS Newsletter option is checked when importing customers?


No.
