The company sells uniforms for the Border Guard, Police, Prison Service, as well as soldiers of the Polish Army.
The idea for opening a store was a natural consequence of spending 18 years in service as a Border Guard Officer. Me and my colleagues had constant problems with completing uniforms. So I came to the conclusion that if a warehouse is unable to provide me with necessary uniform elements, I will take care of it myself. At first I had a problem with reaching customers, because I had no tools with which I could present my offer. The online shop that opened in April 2005 was the solution. The first version was developed in cooperation with a freelancer. Such a solution seemed to me perfect at that time. Low cost, fast implementation. Unfortunately, after a year of dealing with a freelancer, I came to the conclusion that I can’t continue to work like that. I went to e-commerce training in Krakow. I learned that I can lease an online store without paying enormous sums of money and have the support and continuous software updates. Among a few providers I chose IdoSell Shop. The decision was made after about a week of browsing various offers. I chose IdoSell Shop, as it is a SaaS offering, so I do not have to worry about the initial configuration - I also had the opportunity to test the software in order to familiarize myself with IdoSell Shop and, in case of any problems, I could quickly contact the support team.
Initially, in the year 2006 and 2007 I focused on just-in-time deliveries. It quickly turned out that in Polish conditions, it is impossible. Unreliable suppliers, problems with transport. All this prompted me to built our own warehouse. Having products in stock, I can quickly respond to the needs of customers. We never attempt to cheat our customers. If we do not have some product in stock, we clearly inform about it. The customer making a purchase is aware that he will have to wait e.g. 14 days for delivery and another product will be shipped within 24 hours. Hiding such information is a road to nowhere. A once cheated customer, will not come back and will spread the word that the company is unreliable.
Frankly, I did not expect that my store will receive a prize. I always tried to obey the law. My goal was to stress this fact. In my store it is demonstrated with the protection of personal data, as well as the rules in compliance with the requirements of the current law. I think that we received an award for consistency in implementing such objectives. I consider this award as a shared success of IdoSell Shop and ours. Most small shops, including Sortmund.pl, employ two or three people. These people are mainly engaged in the order fulfillment process. There's no time for keeping track of any changes - be it in EU or Polish law. IdoSell Shop is helpful in this matter - the ticketing system is the ideal solution. It allows you to be up-to-date not only with changes in the software, but also with all information associated with online sales.
All mechanisms supporting the sales process are inherently good. They facilitate making the right decisions based on provided data. It is easy to imagine how time-consuming preparing sales statistics or sales analysis, e.g. on the basis of receipts, could be. And thanks to this information we know whether our business is going in the right direction.
I think that there are several criteria that must be met in order to succeed. Starting with product quality, speed of the order fulfillment process, after-sales customer service, ending on a smooth complaint process. All these elements, when properly implemented, build trust and good reputation of the store which later translates into increased sales.
